I've watched Jarhead several times, and honestly it never meant much to me. I never cared much for politics, wars, the history of war, lol I didnt even watch the news b/c it was sad. Moving to where I am surounded with politics, and the news is constantly being rattled off to me (though I try to ignore it) really started to have an effect on me. Then we became friends of a solider. Him and his father are a long time friend of my mother in laws, but me knowing him and his lovely little lady feels different. They are not just names I hear, they are people I know. This makes the movie more real. Knowing that someone I know is over there makes this all to real. Where my view on the war does not change, and my feelings for violence and the news is the same. I have so much more respect for what is going on all around me, and now I do pay a more attention.

I support our Troops!
